SKINLAB: DEVELOPING AN INCLUSIVE, PHARMACY-INSPIRED SKINCARE BRAND FOR ALLERGY-CONSCIOUS CONSUMERS.

visual identity • marketing strategy • packaging • social media

SkinLab was developed from a personal challenge I experienced while helping my husband navigate a severe nut allergy. Finding skincare products that clearly communicated ingredients, allergens, and product safety often felt unnecessarily difficult. I wanted to explore how branding and packaging could create a more transparent experience for allergy-conscious consumers.

During the concept development phase, I explored a variety of naming directions, packaging structures, and visual systems inspired by scientific research and laboratory environments. I was particularly interested in how molecular forms and pharmaceutical design could influence both the packaging and overall brand identity.
To test the flexibility of the concept, I developed two distinct packaging directions targeting different consumer segments. One approach emphasized a more elevated, premium experience, while the other focused on a clean, approachable design intended for a broader retail audience. This exploration allowed me to evaluate how the same brand could adapt across multiple market positions while maintaining a cohesive identity.
The premium direction embraces a more elevated, luxury-inspired experience designed to appeal to consumers seeking high-end skincare products. The accessible direction focuses on clear ingredient callouts, straightforward messaging, and approachable packaging for value-conscious consumers. Together, these concepts demonstrate how strategic design decisions can influence consumer perception while supporting the same core mission of transparency, trust, and ingredient awareness.
As SkinLab evolved, the brand expanded beyond skincare into the makeup category while maintaining its commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and elevated design. This launch campaign demonstrates how the visual identity translates across new product lines and consumer touchpoints: from PR packaging, social media posts and retail displays to large-scale advertising. The result is a cohesive brand experience that feels both aspirational and accessible, positioning SkinLab for long-term growth within the beauty industry.
